How it works
Four steps, repeated until the city runs out of corners. It has never run out of corners.

We find the room
A yard, a basement, a shuttered shop, a stretch of harbour. Somewhere with character and a landlord willing to gamble on one night.
- 02
We hand over the brief
Cooks, printers, selectors and skaters get a small budget and one awkward constraint each. Constraints are where the good ideas hide.
- 03
We tell you late
Listings go up close to the date and tickets release in small batches, so the room stays the size it was designed for.
- 04
You bring the mischief
Turn up curious, take a dare, meet the person next to you. The night is only as good as the nerve in the room.

Etymology, briefly
About the name
Katjong is a historical Dutch and Indonesian associated term for a mischievous boy or street kid.
We have reclaimed it as a spirit rather than a label: the restless curiosity of someone who knows every shortcut, tries the door anyway and finds the party through the back of the building.
That is the whole brief for Katjong. Play first, ask afterwards, leave the place better than you found it.
